It’s even more harrowing that the expensive pet continued to suffer mistreatment even after being picked up by another occupant of Zouma’s house as the West Ham defender slapped it from their hands.
Zouma’s anger with his pet is that the poor creature had messed up his costly apartment, as per The Sun.
However, Zouma’s horrific behaviour could now land him in serious trouble with British authorities – the maximum sentence for animal cruelty in the UK is five years imprisonment.
West Ham has since distanced themselves from the ex-Chelsea man’s actions with a statement that reads:
“West Ham United unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that has circulated,” the statement read.
“We have spoken to Kurt and will be dealing with the matter internally, but we would like to make it clear that we in no way condone cruelty towards animals.”
