Super Eagles win first AFCON qualifiers game against Sierra Leone.

Jose Peisero wins his first competitive game tonight against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone. The Portuguese had failed to win any of the two friendly games he spearheaded with the team days ago. Nigeria now ties on points with Guinea-Bissau who leads the group through their 5-1 emphatic win.

 

The game which was played behind closed doors in MKO Abiola Stadium, in Abuja f, favoured Nigeria who won 2-1 at full time. The Leone Stars had pulled an early victory, scoring just at the 11th minute. Alex Iwobi responded for the Eagles four minutes after lelevellinghe the game at 1-1. A few minutes to the end of the first half, Victor Osimhen converted Simon Moses’ assist into a goal. The 2-1 results stood at full time, regardless of several close attempts from both teams.

 

The team formation w a 4-4-2 line-up Francis Uzoho, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, SadiI’mar, a Victor Osimhen.

 

Nigeria will travel to Morocco to face São Tomé in their second game in the qualifiers.
