FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation) yesterday informed the generally public that it has suspended first team goalkeeper Andre Onana for disciplinary reasons. Onana was sent home after a dispute busted out between Onana and head coach Rigobert song. The argument according to multiple reports was about the coaching charging Onana to change for a different style of play. For the Federation to have taken this stiffened step means Onana didn’t accept the coach decision.
The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) released a statement informing members of the public that Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended by the Federation.
“The Cameroon Football Federation hereby informs the public that following Mr Rigobert Bahanag’s decision to head coach of indomitable Lions, the player Andre Onana has been temporarily suspended from the group for disciplinary reasons.
The Cameroon Football Federation reiterates its full support to the Head Coach and its entire staff as they implement the Federation policy aimed at preserving discipline, solidarity, complementarity, and cohesion within the National team.
FECAFOOT further reaffirms its commitment to create a peaceful atmosphere for the team and to provide them with adequate facilities for an outstanding performance.”
Onana was not in the last squad sheet, was replaced by Devis Epassy who plays in Saudi Arabia league. The encounter ended 3-3 as Cameroon picked their first point in the World Cup.
