Super Eagles of Nigeria wins over Sudan to qualifier for the next round.

The Super Eagles resume the AFCON after a opener win against the Pharaohs last week. Coach Austine Eguaveon retained his 4-4-2 formation that played Egypt. A win tonight have now seal a place for the Super Eagles in the round of 16.

The lineup had: Maduka Okoye, Troost Ekong, Kenneth Omurua, Ola Aina, Zaidu Sanusi, Joel Aribo, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Simon Moses, Samuel Chukweze, Taiwo Awoniyi.

The super Eagles dominated the game in both halves and capitalized on most chances they had. All of Nigerian striker option have now registered a goal in the tournament, what a good way to begin the afcon campaign.

Match Analysis

3′ just 3 minutes into the game Samuel Chukwueze snap up an open opportunity to put the super eagles ahead of the Sudanese side by a 1-0 scoreline.

25′ Kelechi Iheanacho slide in a throw pass to Awoniyi in the 18-yard box of the Sudanese, Awoniyi almost converted

45′ Awoniyi scored his first afcon goal from a free-kick made from Kelechi. It almost seems to be a controversial goal but the referee didn’t rely on the VAR as he made the goal stand. Just before halftime, Nigeria leads by 2-0. The game ended just after the 3 minutes added was completed.

45′ Simon Moses made it 3-0 for the Eagles scoring his first goal of the tournament as well.

46′ Sudan made a double substitution Nooh. A and Musa D.M came on for Eisar and Abbas.

65′ Nigeria made two changes in the game. Ahmed Musa came in for Kelechi Iheanacho and Nwakali replaced Joel Aribo.
Sudan also made a change, introducing Hussein for Hamed.

69′ Ola Aina made a horrendous tackle on a Sudanese player inside the penalty box, the challenge was awarded a penalty with Ola receiving a yellow card.

70′ Walieldin converted the penalty from the spot-kick to savage a goal for his country.

82′ Sadiq Umar the Almeria man came in for Taiwo Awoniyi.

88′ The Sudanese side made double changes introducing Omar and Hakeem for Omer and Nemer.

The game ended by 3-1 in favor of the Super Eagles. This now rakes the Eagles to the top of Group D with 6 points and +3 goals.
