Aguero was forced off in the first half during Barcelona’s draw with Alaves last month with chest pains. After spending time in hospital it was announced that he had been diagnosed with the heart condition, with the striker being told to rest up for three months.
However, according to Catalunya Radio, his return after this break is in doubt. The report states that there is a “certain pessimism” about Aguero’s recovery with the player already considering retiring from the game altogether.
They do note that nothing is decided yet though, with Aguero set to undergo further tests during his time away from the first team.
The fear is that unlike Barcelona Femini star Caroline Graham Hansen – who was recently diagnosed with benign arrhythmia – the Argentine’s cardiac problem could be more complex and therefore unable to be rectified by an operation.
