NPFL GAME 9 REVIEW: Remo Star held to a 1-1 draw at Ikenne Stadium by resilient Rivers United.

The 9th game of the season featured on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  Three games played up on Saturday and Seven games on Sunday. Although some clubs are yet to make up to 9 games as some played their 8th game this week. Sunshine Stars of Akure and Wikki Tourists played their 8th game of the season on 29th January 2022. Game 9 began on 29th, with three games featured, 7 goals were scored in all three games, two home wins and one away win. On the 30th of January Game 9 continued with 7 games played. Nine goals were scored across all games, 3 home wins, 2 away wins, and 2 draws.

Enyimba 2-1 Katsina United.

“The people’s Elephant” hosted Katsina United at Aba, Abia state. Finidi George men were rescued by the 68 minutes spot-kick converted by Emeka Obinna. Just a minute before halftime, Austin Dapo had set “The People’s Elephant” ahead over their visitors. Kalibo Somiari blundered, scoring his goalkeeper that leveled the game at 1-1.
The game ended in the Favor of the Aba-based team.
Enyimba has now skyrocketed themselves to a 4th place spot after the win and Katsina United dumped to 18th position, securing 7 points after 9 games.

Heartland 0-1 Kano Pillars.

Heartland FC of Owerri blew off an opportunity to salvage a point at the game. They horrendously conceded in the 90th minute and lost at home to Kano Pillars. Kano’s pillars midfielder Mark Daniel scored the only goal at the last minute of the game.
Heartland has now been lowered to 19th spot, just a point above 20th position.
“Sai Masu Gida” moved to the 10th spot on the log.

Sunshine Stars 3-0 Lobi Stars.

When two Stars meet, one Star must bow. Sunshine chopped Lobi by a 3-0 scoreline. Olasupo Samson scored a brace at the 7th and 27th minutes of the game, Ugo Leonard scored as well to make it 3-0 for Sunshine. Sunshine roll themselves to the 9th spot, securing 13 points. The Benue-based club Lobi chill at the 13th spot.

MFM 0-1 Shooting Stars

A terrible start to the 2021/22 season for MFM, they lost their last four NPFL games in this campaign. Shooting didn’t let the demise of their manager reflect on them down. They continue to be spirited after his demise, they have now won their last two, winning the previous miraculously at the last minute. There first away win since 2016.
They now moved to the 12th spot on the log.
MFM is 20th after playing 9 games, securing just 6 points.

Dakadda 0-0 Enugu Rangers

Dakkada was held to a barren draw at Benin by the Rangers.
A point secured moved Rangers to 3rd on the log. Dakadda is in 16th position, a point above the relegation zone.

Kwara United 2-0 Gombe

Junior Lokosa 37 minutes and Danbani Alao 39 minutes strikes secured all three points for Kwara United who have now moved to 8th spot to level on points with Akwa United.
Gombe United is now 15th on the log.

Tornadoes 0-1 Akwa United

Akwa United picked three points away from home at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Ezekiel Leo only goal at the 28 minutes was enough to secure an away win for” The Promise Keepers”
Akwa United is chilling at the 7th spot, 5 points behind the league leaders Rivers United.
Niger Tornadoes may just be returning to NNL with the position they are currently and should they not step up their games.

Plateau United 1-0 Abia Warriors

Hilary who made his debut for Plateau United in December last year made the difference for the plateau base club. Albert Hilary scored in the 67th minute to fire Plateau to 5th place.

Wikki Tourist 2-0 Nasarawa United

Wikki looks resplendent at home today when they hosted Nasarawa United at Bauchi. Aliyu Ibrahim struck in the 33rd minute and Anas Aliyu scored to his former team in the 68th minute to extend the lead by 2-0 for Wikki.
Wikki moved to the 5th spot with 15 points secured with a game at hand.
Nasarawa United cool off at points 11th position with 12 points.

Remo Star 1-1 Rivers United.

It was a clash between the best two NPFL teams this season. Both teams maintained their unbeaten run, playing a 1-1 scoreline. Remo Star forward, Andy Okpe lit the Remo Star stadium just 10 minutes into the game. Akuneto responded for “The Pride of Rivers” striking as the equalizer for the visitors.
Both teams are on 19 points so far after 9 games. Rivers United sits in the 1st position ahead of close rival Remo Star. Super Eagles interim coach Austin Eugoveon was present in Ikenne to witness the biggest clash of this season NPFL.
