Real Madrid today unveiled Germany and former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger at the Madrid City. The 29-year-old defender joined Madrid from Chelsea as a free agent following the completion of the 2021-22 season with the Blues.
During his, unveiling, Rudiger was presented with a watch, a replica of the Santiago Bernabéu jersey printed with his name and the number 22 after signing a four-year contract.
Rudiger almost parted with Chelsea during the Frank Lampard era but had his career revived with the club by Thomas Tuchel.
He joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017 and has made 133 league appearances for the club. He won six trophies with Chelsea, including the UEFA Champions League in the 2020-21 season.
Rüdiger during his unveiling said: “I’ll give everything for this club to try and win every possible title”
“This is a very special day for my family and me. I’d like to thank my parents because, without them, I never would have gotten here. They have always supported me and that’s been hugely important throughout my life. I’d also like to thank the president for giving me the chance to play for this great club. I can promise you that I’ll give my all for this club to win every possible trophy. Hala Madrid y nada más!”.
The Club president during the unveiling said.
