His stint began in 2001 with SuperSport until 2007, During his six years of reign with SuperSport, he won two (2) trophies, SAA Super Eight in 2004 and the Medbank cup in 2005.
He was assigned the assistant manager of the South African football team and later became the head coach of Bafana Bafana between the period of 2006 to 2010.
In 2012 Mamelodi Sundown one of the greatest football clubs in South Africa jostle for his signature and appointed him as the club number one manager. He had a transcendent run with the club during his eight years period. He won a total of eleven (11) trophies with Mamelodi Sundowns among which are five (5) South Africa Premier Soccer League, two (2) Medbank Cup, One (1) CAF Championship League and one (1) CAF Super Cup, two(2) Telcom Knockout.
In October 2020 Al Ahly appointed Pitso to replace the wantaway Weiler who has always wanted to be with his family in Argentina.
In an interview with ONTime Sport in 2020, Al Ahly club president disclosed the benchmark that was used to get a fitting replacement for Weiler. He said,
“Rodolfo Arruabarena [ex Pyramids FC head coach] was the major candidate before Pitso Mosimane, but we needed someone who knows more about African football, someone who already has experience in the CAF Championship League”
He further disclosed that Mosimane’s name was then suggested and when he saw his CV and achievements they never thought it twice to give him the job.
Joined Al Ahly in October 2020 and has since then ridden on an impressive season, winning six (6) trophies with the Egyptian giants.
On his awards, Pitso Mosimane has been awarded South Africa coach of the season five (5) times and has been recognized by CAF as a coach of the season in 2016 and 2021 respectively.
