NPFL ROUND 33: Chijioke Akuneto and Victor Mboama tightens the Eunisell golden boot race.

The round 33 kick-starts on Sunday morning with Entimba entertaining Kwara United at Aba in the early hours of today.

 

 In this round ten games featured in this round, 27 goals were scored across all ten games. Eight home wins and two draws were recorded. 

 

Rivers United maintained their 7 points lead over Plateau, which also had a narrow win. Rivers will be crowned champions with two more wins.

 

Chijioke Akuneto’s brace pushes him on top of the Eunisell goal boot race, with a goal above Victor Mboama who scored a hat trick today for people’s ple Elephant.

Enyimba 3-0 Kwara United.

Enyimba had their game rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday by LMC. Enyimba loaded three goals into the net of Kwara at full time, a mission that was accomplished by Victor Mboama. His hat trick has helped Enyimba level up on point with Enugu Rangers who sit at the CAF Confederation and also help them go two points above Kwara United.

 

Akwa United 1-0 Remo Stars.

Sky-blue boys were defeated at Uyo through a narrow 1-0 result. Deji Ayeni has now broken a three-match winless streak. Remo who’s in 5th place is still two points above Akwa United who has 48 points. 

 

Rivers United 2-0 Abia Warriors

The Pride of Rivers extended their lead on the log by 10 points with a difficult win over resilient Warriors. Chijioke Akuneto’s brace helped Rivers earn all three points against the Warriors. The forward has now gone one goal above Victor Mboaoma, who earlier today scored a hat trick.

 

Shooting 2-1 Plateau United.

Plateau slumped at Ibadan to 3SC in a 2-1 encounter. Plateau failed to secure a win-wins, they are points adrift of league leaders Rivers United after round 33. Shooting stepped up to 12 places with the hope to avoid relegation. 

 

Kano Pillars 1-1 Wikki Tourist

Sai Masu Gida returned to Sani Abacha Stadium, following LMC approval, after the ban was placed on them. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Bauchi base club Wikki in their quest to avoid relegation. Fahad Usman’s 14th minute goal for Pillars was neutralized by Adamu Shafiu in the 33rd minute. Pillars are two points above the relegation area, while Wikki is sited at the middle of the table with 45 points.
