Round 30 featured all ten games on Saturday, with the game between Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars abandoned. The week was interesting with Kano Pillars and Rivers United picking an away win.
After the completion of the week, seven home wins were observed, one draw and two always wins, with a game abandoned. Twenty-nine goals were scored across all nine games.
Synopsis of Round 30:
Remo Star 3-1 Kano Pillars.
Sai Masu Gida dents Remo’s chances to go ahead of Enugu Rangers in the top three. Meanwhile, the win has helped the Kano-based team currently playing home games in Abuja due to LMC sanctions to move clear of the relegation area. Auwalu Ali Malam’s brace and Daniel Mark’s strike sunk Remo at their turf.
Enyimba 3-2 Nasarawa
A show-piece encounter with three penalties awarded and two missed. Enyimba no doubt missed their talisman Victor Mboama who is currently on duty with the Super Eagles. Enyimba had to leverage on Ini Edem’s red card, which help them score a winning goal from the spot-kick. The People’s Elephant has now moved to 6th place, dumping Nasarawa at the 13th spot.
Dakadda 2-3 Rivers United.
The pride of Rivers were spirited at Uyo despite not being with their two players Ishaq Kayode and Madu. They tussle Dakkada until they sniff out all three points at Uyo. Stanley Eguma made a technical substitute, introducing Malachi Ohawuma in the 76th minute for Chijioke Akuneto who scored Rivers’s first goal. Malachi scored two goals in eight minutes that helped Rivers conquer. The seven points lead over Plateau United is still firing on the log.
Kwara United 1-0 Akwa United.
The Promise Keepers suffered a defeat at Ilorin and look likely not to have the spirit to defend the league. Samad Kadiri’s first-half spot-kick separates both sides after full time at the Ilorin Sports stadium. Kwara goes two points above Akwa United to 5th place.
Plateau United 4-0 Rangers.
Rangers were ransacked to a 4-0 result at Jos by Plateau United, who also put their sights on the league should Rivers slip. Plateau United Defender Muhammad Zulkifilu starred, scoring a brace in the first. Izuchukwu Chimezie and Anthony Sunday scored Plateau’s third and fourth goals. Plateau remains points below league leaders Rivers United while Rangers remains at the third position.
