The Elephant who lost to neighbor Abia Warriors during the Abia Derby returns to winning ways in the oriental derby against Rangers.
Enyimba came from a goal down to claim all three points at Aba. The Elephant has now done a double on Ranger winning the first tie at Nnewi, Anambra state.
Victor Mboama levels at the 33rd minute and seals a winning goal at the 66th minute.
Enyimba have now moved ahead from their previous spot to 7th place while Rangers retain 3rd place.
Lobi Stars 0-0 Kano Pillars.
Battling Pillars held Lobi at Markudi to a barren draw in this encounter. Despite coach Eugene Agagbe’s four changes in the second half, all approach seems not to work in breaking the standardized defense of Sai Masu Gida.
Pillars is on 13th place after 22 games while Lobi drops to relegation area.
MFM 2-0 Dakadda.
For the first time, MFM moved away from the last position after a transcendent tie at their turf against Dakadda. Relegation-threatened MFM scored in both halves that helped them slide over their Visitors Dakadda.
MFM with 23 points is on the 18 place while Dakadda is still a point above the relegation zone.
Niger Tornadoes 1-0 Wikki Tourist.
Chinedu Ufere’s spot-kick denied Iko Allah’s boys an early lead in the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna. Wakili Abdullahi was subbed on in the 84th minute and netted Tornadoes only goal after 2 minutes.
The NNL Champions are poised not to return to the second division league after a big push to 14th place on the log. Wikki sits in the middle of the table.
Sunshine Stars 1-0 Abia Warriors.
The Akure Gunners had a narrow win over the Warriors at Akure, Ejike Uzoechi altered from spot-kick for the home team. The game ended with a 1-0 scoreline favoring Sunshine.
Sunshine is spotted on the 6th place with 32 points while Warriors is 2 points above the relegation zone.
Akwa United 2-1 Shooting Star.
Both teams made eleven substitutions in this encounter. Shooting, dragging the game to 2-1 in the 84th minute, couldn’t salvage a point for them at full time. The defending Champions had their lead just 14 minutes into the game and doubled at 69 minutes. Coach Ayodeji Ayeni has now taken charge of three games with the Promise Keepers, drawing two and winning the latter.
Akwa United battling in 8th place with 32 points and Shooting drops to 12th spot.
Gombe 3-1 Nasarawa United.
Gombe put three past the Lafia based club in their meetings. Manga Mohammed was sent off from an awful challenge against Gombe’s player. Gombe have now moved about the middle of the log with three points ahead of their visitors with this win.
They fired themselves to 9th place dumping their visitors to 11th position.
Kwara United 1-1 Plateau United.
Resilient Plateau United has only lost one game which was against Sunshine Stars in their last 14 in the NPFL. They keep the league right on the neck for Rivers who currently occupies the top spot.
Plateau, despite a draw in Kwara, is still in the second area on the log while Kwara moves to 5th place after securing 35 points.
Heartland 0-0 Remo Stars
Heartland was disappointed at home as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Remo Stars. A win would have given some hopes to the Owerri-based club.
They remain at the bottom of the log with 21 points. Remo returns to the top4 area after a point is picked.
Katsina United will host league leaders tomorrow at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina. Katsina who recently sacked their manager needs the results to bounce off the relegation zone. But no assurance if they can run riot over Rivers tomorrow
