Only one game featured on the return of the league, which was between defender Champions and likely champions. On Sunday eight games featured, 13 goals registered, 8 home wins, without an away win or a draw. Although the game between Katsina United and Abia Warriors was postponed based on logistic reasons as reported by Katsina United.

  • Sunshine Stars handed Plateau a defeat, a result that denied Plateau United their first opportunity to go top of the log.

  • Lobi Stars wins their first game after suffering five defeats in a row.

  • Pride of Rivers’ scintillating form continued at Uyo as they held on Ayodeji Ayeni to a 1-1 in his first campaign as the coach of the Promise Keeper.

  • Remo Star and Heartland have duplicated their performance this season as both have won the same number of games, drawn the same number of games and lost the same number of games.

Akwa United 1-1 Rivers United.

Coach Ayeni Ayodeji made his first appearance at the touchline for the orange color club. The former Sunshine Manager praised his boys after they fought back to level the game to a 1-1 draw. They had blundered in the 17th minute, scoring an own goal that set Rivers United ahead in the encounter. At 47th Adeyeye Adeyemi returned the defending champions into the game, converting Bello Babatunde’s cross.

Rivers’ resiliency continues as they have only lost a game this season and retain their spot at the top of the log, Akwa United drops to the 8th spot.

Enyimba 2-0 Wikki Tourist

The Aba-based club picked their second win in their last eight games. Finidi George’s men’s brilliance sees them off against their visitor. Abel James and Victor Mboama’s goals at 37th and 46th minutes respectively were enough to set the Aba-based club to a happy Sunday. With a win. Enyimba has moved to 7th place with 29 points, while Wikki Tourist cools off at the middle of the table with 27 points.

Gombe United 1-0 Kano Pillars.

“Sai Masu Gida” has not been convincing since the beginning of the season. They won Gombe in the last edition at Kaduna and have failed to replicate the same result at Pantami Stadium, Gombe.

Pillars are just 4 points above the relegation sitting in the 13th region. Gombe grabs revenge by Barnabas Daniel’s only goal, which has fired Gombe to 9th place.

Kwara 2-1 Remo Star.

Kwara came from behind to pick all three points against Remo, who netted first in the tie. Hadi Haruna struck Remo’s only goal, while Stephen Jude and Kadri Timileyin responded for Kwara. The Sky Blue club who began the season as conceivable champions have dropped out from the top 4 to 5th place. Kwara’s win takes them to the top4 area.

Lobi Stars 2-0 Enugu Rangers.

The Markudi based club retaliated against the humiliation they suffered at Uyo against Enugu Rangers. The last encounter between both sides produced the most goals in a single NPFL match this season. Lobi ended their 5 winless streak todstreaks have moved above the relegation with one point. The Rangers remain in 3rd place with the same point as Kwara United.

MFM FC 1-0 Heartland.

Both teams seem to be likely candidates for NNL next season, as they both occupy the 19th and 20th spots. Both teams have produced replica results, they have both won 5 games, drawn 5 games, and lost 10 games this season.  Micheal Ojodomo’s strike helped the Olukoya Boys level on points with Heartland.

Nasarawa 2-0 Shooting Stars.

Nasararawa ravaged Shooting at Lafia to a 2-0 score. Adamu Hassan and Shammasu Mohammed scored Nasarawa both goals in the encounter. Both teams maintained their players without substitution and no card was issued.

Shooting and Nasarawa United occupy 11th and 12th spots respectively.

Niger Tornadoes 1-0 Dakadda.

Iko Allah’s Boys make their way after Emmanuel Jonas’s goal. Tornadoes use the opportunity to fly off the relegation zone to 14th place, while Dakadda is dumped to the danger zone.

Sunshine Stars 1-0 Plateau United.

The Tin City Boys were denied an opportunity to go to the top of the log ahead of Rivers United by Sunshine. They lost to Sunshine in a 1-0 encounter with Akure. Although Plateau is two points behind league leaders Rivers United and could seize an opportunity should River slip off? Sunshine moves to a 9th after the narrow win at home soil.
