Nigeria and Napoli Striker Victor Osimhen has put the heartbeat of many Nigerians at pause as he’s set to miss the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon with a successful surgery on his fractured bone. He will be out of action for the period of 90 days, apparently 3 months. This is a tremendous news for the Supers who have qualified for AFCON slated to take place at January 2022 in Cameroon.
The Nigerian striker who made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2017 and has went to make 18 appearances and scoring 10 goals. Currently Napoli’s top scorer with 5 SerieA goals to his name.
Victor Osimhen had a thudding collision with an opposition player in a tough SerieA game against Inter Milan over the weekend that led to the severe injury he sustained.
Although Napoli lost the tie away to Inter in a five goal thriller match. Which ended 3-2 in favour of inter Milan. He was unable to continue the game at 55minutes when he was replaced with Andrea Petagna.

“Victor Osimhen was operated on this morning by Prof. Tartaro, assisted by dr. Mario Santagata and in the presence of dr. Canonical, for a reduction and restraint operation of multi-fragmentary and displaced fractures of the malar bone, of the zygomatic arch and pommel, of the floor and lateral wall of the orbit, and of the diastasis of the frontal-zygomatic suture.
The synthesis of the bone abutments was done with titanium plates and screws.
The player is fine and will remain under observation for a few days.
The prognosis is estimated to be around 90 days”
