Performance rating of Nigerian players over the weekend at abroad.

A recap of various performance put forward by some Nigerian players having their stint away from home over the weekend has been abstracted by Sportjuice9ja. The compilation shows best to worst players of the weekend.

Simon Moses (Nantes)

It took Victor Moses 4 minutes to provide an assist to Nantes’ opener goal, scored by Kolo Muani. Only Dimitri Payet, Kylian Mpappe, and Jonathan Clauss have provided more assists than Simon Moses in the French league1. The Nigerian forward has registered the same assists 8 as Messi this season.

Nantes won the tie, beating PSG at home to a 3-1 scoreline. As a result, that has moved them to the 7th spot of the log of the French league1.

 

Olisah Ndah (Orlando Pirate)

The former Akwa United full-back was in action full time for Orlando Pirates at the CAF Confederation group stage game against Al Ittihad of Libya. They lost horrendously to Ltthad by 3-2. Nda 14th game with the South African giant since joining from Akwa United.

 

Ademola Lookman, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kelechi Ineanacho (Leicester City)

Ademola Lookman who recently was cleared to represent Nigeria and his fellow compatriots Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho partook in Leicester City’s humiliation at Wolves. Lookman and Ndidi featured in full time, while Kelechi was subbed on for Patson Daka. 

Leicester City has only won one out of their last seven games. 

 

Emmanuel Dennis, Troost Ekong, and Samuel Kalu

Emmanuel Dennis starred for Watford at Villa Park, He scored the only goal of the game.

Troost Ekong and Samuel Kalu were unused substitutes, it seems Troost may have lost his position to Samir and Cathcart. The Super Eagles assistant Captain has not started a match for “The Hornets” since his return from AFCON.

Peter Etebo is still sidelined with injury.

 

Alex Iwobi (Everton)

Iwobi started for Everton against Southampton over the weekend. They lost away to “The Saint” by 2-0. Iwobi, who has struggled with form both at the club level and National level may just be seeing the end of his career at such a young age.

 

Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin)

Awoniyi has participated in Union Berlin’s defeat to Armenia Bielefeld by 1-0. Awoniyi has not scored a goal for Union Berlin since his return from AFCON. Meanwhile, Union Berlin has played 5 games since his return, and they have not won any.

 

Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague)

The hitman scored his 5th goal of the season for the Czech Republic, defending Champions and likely champions. His only goal separated Slavia Prague from their Visitors, Bohemian. Slavia Prague went invincible last season to claim the league and looks promising at the top of the log.

 

Semi Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion.

Sami and West Brom were humbled at Luton FC to a 2-0 defeat over the weekend. Semi featured all full-time in the tie. 

 

Zaidi Sanusi (FC Porto)

Sanusi regains his portion back at FC Porto after a scintillating performance put up by at AFCON. Porto won at Moreirense by 1-0, much more praise to the left-back who played full time in the tie.

 

Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Victor Scored to rescue Napoli just three minutes before full time against Cagliari. The 23 years striker, unfortunately, could not represent Nigeria during the just concluded AFCON in Cameroon. His 7th goal of the season in 16 appearances.

 

Joel Aribo and Calvin Bassey (Rangers)

Bassey and Aribo clicked to liberate the Rangers over the weekend to a 1-1 draw against Dundee United. Bassey assisted Aribo who scored his seventh goal of the season. He has made 11 goals this season for the Rangers, Glasgow.

 

Paul Onuachu (Genk)

The Genk Talisman could not salvage his team a point during the weekend against Anderlecht, where they lost all three points. It was Paul’s 100 games for the Belgium side. Although not a poor run of the season for Paul, who has netted 15th times this season for Genk.

 

Sadiq Umar (Almeria)

Umar braced for Almeria against Mirandes in the La Liga second division. Twelve goals this season for the 25-year striker. Almeria sits second behind Eibar and is resilient towards returning to the first division.

 

Kevin Okpoguma (Hoffenheim)

The German-born defender featured for 5 minutes in his team’s away win at Wolfsburg. Guggenheim ransacked Wolfsburg at home to a 2-1 victory.
