Southampton FC has confirmed that they have parted ways with Nathan Jones following a poor run after the first half of the season. Nathan’s sack came after his side lost 1-0 to the Wolves, a result that has made the Saints go 4 points lower at the bottom of the league table.
He was appointed in November last year as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s successor and just after 14 games in charge he has lost 9 of those games.
Yesterday, after the game Southampton lost to Wolves, Nathan was seen running immediately down the tunnel. He was interviewed about his action.
“I have never done that in my life before,” Jones said on his decision to leave the pitch.
“In 390 games, I have never done that. But I am not sure if me going around clapping would have shown respect.”
Southampton Club Statement:
“Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men’s First Team Manager Nathan Jones.
First Team Coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club.
First Team Lead Coach Rubén Sellés will take charge of training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea.”
