Since news broke of Peng’s disappearance, famous athletes have taken to social media to show their support to the tennis player through the hashtag #WhereisPengShuai.
“Censorship is never OK at any cost. I hope Peng Shuai and her family are safe and OK,” wrote Osaka.
“I’m in shock of the current situation and I’m sending love and light her way.”
Serena Williams also took to Twitter to express her unease about the whole story, as she sent a message of support to Peng.
“I am devastated and shocked to hear about the news of my peer, Peng Shuai,” stressed Williams.
“I hope she is safe and found as soon as possible. This must be investigated and we must not stay silent. Sending love to her and her family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Feliciano Lopez also tweeted with the hashtag #WhereisPengShuai, while Spanish tennis coach Anabel Medina also shared a post on social media about Peng.
