Croatian captain Luka Modrić has shown no respect to referee Orsato, who he tagged as the worst and a disaster. Daniele Orsato officiated the game, Argentina defeated Croatia by 3-0 last night to book a final spot in the World Cup. Luka Modrić could not hold back his frustration against the Italians after they suffered a horrible defeat.
The anger was primarily for the penalty he gave in favour of the Albiceleste that allowed Lionel Messi to open the scoring. Dominik Livakovic was adjudged to have fouled Julian Alvarez in the box in the first half, but the Croatians did not agree.
“It’s a key moment in the game, he doesn’t give us a corner and gives them a penalty, which I don’t think it was because he shoots and collides with our goalkeeper,” Modric said after the match to reporters.
“I can’t believe he gave that penalty. That changes the game,” explained the no.10 in the mixed zone.
“I never talk about referees, but today it’s impossible not to talk. He is one of the worst I know. Not only for today’s game. He has referee-referred times and I never have a good memory of him. He’s a disaster”, Modric exclaimed.
“My last game with the national team? I don’t know, we’ll see. It’s not the time to talk about this. There’s a bronze medal at stake, and we have to be ready,” said the midfielder.
