Chelsea controlled the game at home soil in both halves but resilient Everton pulled off a surprising effort to earn a point at Stanford Bridge.
In 70th minutes Mason Mount gave the home a lead with his goal assisted by Reece James. After 4 minutes Braithwaite responded with an equaliser for the visitors.
The game ended with both teams sharing a point at the Bridge. This has a negative impact on Chelsea’s title hope as they have dropped points and are 4 points behind league leaders Manchester City and three points behind Liverpool who are on 40 points.
Both teams had lost key players to covid19 and injuries.
