Reyna had been playing his domestic football in Peru with Academia Deportiva Cantolao after his contract with Real Mallorca was rescinded in January 2021.
It is understood that a misdemeanour and breach of club rules was what forced the Spanish club’s hands, leaving him a free agent.
Libero Media in Peru reported on Wednesday that Reyna had been pulled over by police in his car alongside a teammate, and then weapons and drugs were found inside the vehicle.
“A black Browning brand firearm, model CZ-83, Caliber 9 with Made in Czech Republic inscriptions, without a serial number, was found, apparently discarded, equipped with a cartridge of 12 ammunition shells,” the report stated after the police released their version of events.
