Bayern today announced the acquisition of Yan Sommer from Borrusia Mönchengladbach until the end of the season. Bundesliga giant also said Sommer took part in today’s training and will be available for selection when the club travels to RB Leipzig during the weekend game.
The 34 years old joined Mönchengladbach from Basel in 2014 where he has made 335 appearances with 11 coming from this season. He made his debut with Switzerland on May 30, 2012 and has since then capped 80 times for the Switzerland National team.
“Straight into the action! Yann Sommer already completed his first training session with FC Bayern on Thursday. The 34-year-old goalkeeper has joined the German record champions from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a contract through to 30 June 2025. Coach Julian Nagelsmann and his team were able to welcome the new arrival to Säbener Straße at the final session ahead of the Bundesliga away match against RB Leipzig on Friday night (kick-off 20:30 CET). Sommer will travel with the squad to Leipzig.”
