The African best player ceremony was hosted today in 2019n in Morocco as previously announced by CAF. Winners for each category were announced and most importantly Sadio Mané edged Edouard Mendy and Mohamed Salah to retain the award. Mane and Oshoala got the most votes and have been crowned winners of the most prestigious individual award in Africa.
Sadio Mané won the previous edition 2019 over Riyad Marhez and Mohamed Salah and has now retained it. This year, Mane maintained the award with his traffic performance for Senegal and Liverpool.
He was part of the Senegal squad that led the nation to their first AFCON triumph after many efforts. He was named the best player in the tournament.
While with Liverpool, the 30-year-old forward helped the team claim two domestic trophies, F. A and Carling Cups and helped reach the final of the UEFA Champions League having lost the league to City by a point difference.
Asisat Oshoala wins the award for the fifth time, becoming the first female to reach such a feat. She was part of the Barcelona female team that won this season’s league. They pulled out of the AWFCON due to an injury sustained.
